19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
