Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking official commented the attack made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
